⟪ CHARACTER ⟫
VOCALOIDs were taking the world by storm. Cybernetic androids with the programmed ability to sing, dance, play instruments and perform had become such a sensation over night that everyone wanted a piece of the action. The unfortunate fact was that not everyone could. Only one company had perfected the art so far, making the first five that came on to the musical scene and divulging the secrets of their success to no one. A rival company, though, was just desperate enough to find a way to steal the secrets and begin the attempt at making VOCALOIDs for themselves.
Sadly the same success was not to be had by this rival company. They were missing several key components needed to make their creations as well as the first company had, and as each VOCALOID was came with their own unique AI, they were faced with the problem of not knowing just what would come out of their efforts. Yowane Haku was their first, followed by Akita Neru, both modeled after their predecessor, Hatsune Miku. While Neru had the problem of simply not caring if she was good enough as a VOCALOID and behaving much like an ornery teenager, Haku was the opposite, finding herself constantly depressed that she sounded far too mechanical to be any decent. She couldn't dance nearly as well as the others, and her creators missed any chance to give her further skills with an instrument like many of the other VOCALOIDs had taken up. While Neru took to simply ignoring the world around her, spending all her time fiddling with a mobile phone she'd been given, Haku could only find solace in a bottle or two of sake, and spent most of her time drunk.
These failed attempts at VOCALOIDs were found out by the original company, and a terrible, lengthy lawsuit followed that crushed the one that had created the two of them, and when it was all over they found themselves not only without a place of employment, but without a home as well. The original company took pity on the two of them, and while they would never sell nearly as much as the others, they were at least given a place to live amongst their 'brothers and sisters'.
Haku was regulated to singing mostly slower, sad sounding ballads and generally mellower songs than Miku's up beat pop songs, and as such she often felt a bit restricted by her weaker voice, but knew there was nothing she could really do about it. She still suffered from her depression, knowing she'd never be as good as 'little sister' Miku, but she was grateful, if nothing else that she'd not only been given a chance but a family as well, and she enjoyed her time with the other VOCALOIDs. They taught her how to dance better, and she learned to play the guitar as well, increasing some of her talents and in turn increasing some of her marketability as well. She was able to begin touring with the rest of them.
While on tour with them, they headed to a coastal town for a show, and had a few hours to kill after the concert was over. While the twins Ren and Len went exploring the coast, Kaito, Miku and Maiko went shopping, Gaku and Luka stayed in the hotel, Neru got dragged along with Haku while she went to look for a bar. Somewhere along the way she completely lost track of her sister, unknowingly stumbling in to a completely different world. It didn't look much different than the city, so she wandered inside a bar, hoping to see if some one knew where Neru had gone...
⟪ PERSONALITY ⟫
Haku, when not completely drunk, is actually a fairly easy going, mostly happy individual, if not a tad melancholy at times.. She smiles easily, blushes even easier, and enjoys joking around with her siblings. Being around them seems to keep her mind off the fact that she isn't as good of a singer as them, but its still a thought that will bring on depression if she contemplates it too much. She doesn't take compliments well, and is often painfully modest when it comes to her own abilities. She tries to remain as polite as possible, and sometimes finds herself apologizing for the antics of her other siblings, mostly Neru for being so uncaring, or the twins for being so rambunctious. That's not to say she's without her own devious side when she's feeling comfortable enough to do so, but being a bit older in make she tends to take on a more sexual, flirtatious attitude with it. Having a boyfriend and seeing her big family grow even bigger has changed quite a bit of her attitude, making her happier than she's ever been, even if much of the doubt of her own skill, worth and love remains.
The alcohol vice also remains, though it is much more of a social activity now, one aided by her boyfriend and her other friends. Should her depression ever return in full force as it once was, she would likely turn to them rather than the bottle for consolation, but there's always a chance this might not be enough for her. She does her best to find strength in her family, though, knowing that none of her brothers and sisters or her neice or nephew would like to see her in that state.
She continues to display a certain level of laziness, but she's found motivation in hard labor, actually working as a mechanic for DATS Neon Branch, using the time and her knowledge of electronics and mechanics to repair the disused service vehicles of the station. She still loves singing and music, but hasn't been practicing as much. It's something she misses, but knows that her job and family are the most important things in her life, even if she doesn't get the chance to be musical.
⟪ PARTNER ⟫
Phascomon mimics Haku's personality quite a bit, being both alternately lazy and some how (mostly) polite and helpful at the same time. He enjoys giving advice and helping others, but often has to be woken up before anything can actually be done. He can be just the slightest bit sarcastic, sometimes bitingly so if he's in a rather foul mood, but he rarely means anything by it. With Haku he's a bit gruffer and a little more stern, knowing she often needs urging like himself to get motivated in to anything. He's usually found sleeping in a corner somewhere, and would rather avoid fighting if he possibly can. He's much more apt to play unofficial therapist than jump head long in to a battle, and complains at length about how pointless it all is, and how it takes away from his 'much needed sleep'.
Haku has grown on him in the past few months, and he's not nearly as harsh on her as he was upon her arrival. He's still as grumpy as ever, apt to snap and make rude comments laced with sarcasm, but he sees the potential in Haku, not just as a tamer but as a person, and would be crushed if anything ever happened to her on his watch.
He has yet to evolve. There's no confirmation if this is due to him, her, or both of them.
